Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Gratitude Scroll mobile application (the "App") provided by Gratitude Scroll ("we," "us"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. The service

Gratitude Scroll helps you reduce distracting phone use by locking apps you choose and requiring you to speak a moment of gratitude before they unlock. The App relies on Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) features, which you must grant permission to use.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the App.

3. Accounts

You can use the App's core features without an account. If you choose to create one, you may sign in with Sign in with Apple or Google. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your sign-in credentials with Apple or Google secure, and that you are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. You may delete your account at any time from within the App (Settings → Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

5. Subscriptions, free trials, and billing

Gratitude Scroll offers auto-renewing subscriptions, which may include a free trial.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
If a free trial is offered and you subscribe, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings.
All purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their policies; we generally cannot issue refunds directly.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the App, including by attempting to reverse engineer it, interfere with its operation, circumvent its security, or use it in violation of any law.

7. Not a medical or safety service

Gratitude Scroll is a wellbeing and habit tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, psychological, or emergency services. The app-locking feature is a motivational aid and should not be relied on as a safety control. If you are struggling with your mental health, please contact a qualified professional.

8. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time. App functionality depends on Apple frameworks and your device settings, which are outside our control.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gratitude Scroll will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the effective date above when we do. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
